I'm a skilled, dedicated, experienced, and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist helping Women, adults, Millennials, and Teens (11+) to cope and overcome life's challenges in both Florida and New York. I hold a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and in Early Childhood Education. My role as a therapist is versatile, I am an educator, a guide, a listener, a goofball, and a mirror. I am here to help foster a trusting and collaborative relationship in which clients can feel safe to explore their thoughts, feelings, and life struggles. I believe in empowering my clients to develop the coping skills, self-esteem, and self-awareness necessary to create positive change. I too have experienced life struggles along my self-discovery journey, and understand that exploring your current and past issues is necessary to start the healing process. Through our journey together we can explore the parts of your life that are troubling and causing you turbulence. Since you are the expert on your own life, I am here to help guide you and steer you to see your authentic self and your life in a new light.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together it's all about building rapport and creating a comfortable, safe space for the client. I will inquire about the client's current challenges or the reasons they sought therapy. This often involves discussing symptoms, stressors, and the client's goals for therapy. I will work with the client to identify and clarify their goals for therapy. This helps guide the direction of future sessions and ensures that both of us are aligned with their objectives. I will explain how therapy typically works, including the frequency and duration of sessions, what types of therapy or interventions they might use, and what the client can expect in terms of participation and progress. The client will have an opportunity to ask questions about the therapist’s qualifications, treatment approach, or any other concerns they may have. Lastly, we will discuss any expectations in future sessions and how they can be prepared for them.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

When working with a diveristy of clients who have different backgrounds, cultures, or life experiences, I help to implement social skills, communication skills, peer relationships, and family system dynamics and provide guidance in the stages that come along with personal development. I work collaboratively with my clients to utilize their strengths to cope with their current situations and meet their needs. I will help facilitate change by listening to the client and working hard to gain an understanding of their perspective. We will have meaningful conversations that restore broken connections, rebuilds communication, and reshapes unhealthy patterns. My innovative approach is encouraging and person-centered while gently challenging.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have become trained in ACT and it has helped numerous clients identify their values and goals in our sessions together where they may have been stuck before. I utilize the many different strategies and coping mechanisms it offers in unhooking and defusing from negative thoughts that don't serve clients. By walking through the psychological hexaflex model and educating clients in its guiding principles, it offers flexibility and ease in achieving values and committed action.

Attachment-based

I help emphasize to clients that understanding one's attachment style is a valuable tool for personal growth and improved relationships. In exploring attachment-based therapy, I help to facilitate strategies for growth and talk about ways a client can work towards a more secure attachment style. I discuss coping mechanisms, communication skills, and the importance of self-awareness and offer guidance and support as they take steps toward personal growth.
