Hey there! My name is Kelly. In my practice, I provide compassionate care and support to individuals, couples, and families seeking therapy. I believe in the power of collaborative therapy and strive to create a nurturing and supportive environment where clients can embark on their journey to self-discovery and well-being. I offer a confidential and judgment-free space for authentic expression. Mental health should be accessible, digestible, a love letter to yourself, and self-care people actually want to engage in. I believe in the power of laughing and humor in sessions and love when clients are able to be fully themselves whether it's using TikToks to show how they're feeling, cursing like a sailor, or letting go of the mask they wear daily. Everyone deserves therapeutic support that respects and honors their individuality. If you're ready to start your journey towards healing and growth, I am here to support you every step of the way! I look forward to hearing from you and being part of your journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming and non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe sharing your concerns. We'll start by getting to know each other and discussing your reasons for seeking therapy. I'll ask about your personal history and background to better understand your unique situation. We'll also go over confidentiality and set the foundation for a trusting therapeutic relationship. Together, we'll identify initial goals and discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs. This first session is your opportunity to ask questions, express your expectations, and begin to feel comfortable with the therapeutic process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapy provider, my greatest strengths lie in my compassionate and empathetic approach, which helps create a safe and supportive environment for my clients. I prioritize building a trusting and collaborative relationship with my clients, empowering them to actively participate in their healing process. My ability to listen deeply, provide insightful feedback, and foster resilience enables my clients to achieve meaningful and lasting change.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

As a clinician, I use a strength-based treatment method, which focuses on identifying and leveraging your unique strengths and resources to support your recovery. This approach recognizes and builds on your existing skills, resilience, and positive attributes, rather than solely addressing problems or deficits. By emphasizing what you do well and how you can use these strengths to overcome challenges, we aim to empower you to take an active role in your healing process.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you navigate your thoughts and emotions in a more effective way. ACT focuses on accepting your internal experiences rather than fighting against them. We work on identifying your values—what truly matters to you—and committing to actions that align with these values. By developing mindfulness skills, you learn to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment, reducing their impact on your behavior. This approach aims to increase psychological flexibility, allowing you to lead a more meaningful and fulfilling life despite any challenges you may face.

Racial trauma treatment

As a clinician who helps address racial trauma, I am focused on creating a safe and supportive environment where you can explore and process your experiences with racism and discrimination. Treatment involves validating your feelings and acknowledging the impact of systemic and interpersonal racism on your mental health. We use culturally sensitive approaches and trauma-informed care to help you build resilience and coping strategies. This may include techniques such as mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy to help you reclaim your story and sense of self. By addressing racial trauma directly, we aim to empower you to heal and thrive in a society that often challenges your identity and worth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and change the patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to your distress. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and that changing negative thought patterns can lead to changes in feelings and behaviors. In our sessions, we will identify and challenge distorted or unhelpful thoughts, develop more balanced and realistic thinking, and practice new behaviors and coping strategies. This structured, goal-oriented approach empowers you to take an active role in your treatment and make lasting positive changes in your life.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care is used to ensure that our work together acknowledges and respects the impact of trauma on your life. This approach focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where you feel understood and validated. We recognize the widespread effects of trauma and aim to avoid re-traumatization by being sensitive to your past experiences. Our work involves building trust, fostering collaboration, and empowering you with control over your treatment. By integrating knowledge about trauma into all aspects of our care, we help you develop coping strategies, build resilience, and work towards healing in a way that feels safe and respectful to you.
