Hello! Are you looking for help dealing with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD or relationship issues? Do you want tools to get relief and to work with an experienced and down-to-earth therapist? I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years in the field, and I am committed to helping my clients manage their mental health and achieve life goals. I have worked in multiple areas including with serious and persistent mental illness, addiction, inpatient and outpatient settings, and with a diverse group of clients and problem areas. Going to therapy is a difficult step, so I want to help you to feel hopeful and more at ease after leaving our sessions. I use evidence-based approaches, and I like to check in frequently to be sure that you are comfortable and believe that we are making progress. My ultimate goal is to create a safe space for you and to train you to eventually be your "own therapist".

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session we will review your current challenges/problems. I will ask about your mental health history and about what treatments you have received and what may have or have not worked for you. We will also begin to develop a treatment plan and decide on a frequency to meet.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My number one strength is the ability to connect and provide practical tools from the first session to manage life situations. I am relatable and like to use humor. I have over 23 years experience working with individuals and their families with serious and persistent mental illness, addiction, depression and anxiety. I have extensive experience working with other providers such as psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and physicians to provide individualized/interdisciplinary care.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I often use present moment awareness/mindfulness, defusions skills with a focus on values and goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help my clients identify negative automatic thoughts that interfere with daily functioning, happiness or achieving goals. We will analyze them for accuracy, which they are often distorted, especially with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. I will help you reframe/restructure these thoughts while focusing on behaviors that better manage your mood.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I routinely teach and encourage the use of mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness skills.

EMDR

I am EMDR trained by the EMDR Institute. I incorporate it into my practice when appropriate, and when my clients are receptive to it, especially with PTSD.
