Hello! My name is Jennifer and I am a licensed MFT. I have been in community mental health for 8 years, and have had much success working with children and families in the child welfare system and on probation. I have also provided mental health counseling to children, families, and adults in both the field-based and outpatient/private setting. Currently, I serve as the Clinical Director of a mental health diversion program, providing resources and support to the forensic population as they reintegrate into the community.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will go over some housekeeping rules and I will tell you a little bit about myself. I'll also answer some questions you may have about therapy. I'll be conducting an informal assessment through your telling of your story, and what brings you to therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My #1 greatest strength is my ability to forge a strong therapeutic alliance. My #2 greatest strength is helping my clients uncover their unmet needs, and the maladaptive behaviors they've developed over time to help get those needs met. Then finding new, more adaptive ways to get them met.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing CBT interventions with children and adults since 2016. In practice, a CBT session typically involves the therapist and client working together to identify and understand thought patterns, emotional responses, and associated behaviors. The therapist guides the client in challenging and reframing distorted thoughts, developing coping strategies, and implementing behavioral changes. The goal is to empower individuals to manage their symptoms more effectively and cultivate a more positive and adaptive mindset.

Compassion Focused

Compassion-Focused Therapy is often used to address issues such as chronic shame, self-criticism, anxiety, depression, and trauma. It is particularly beneficial for individuals who struggle with a harsh inner critic or have difficulty expressing warmth and understanding toward themselves.
