I find immense reward in guiding my clients through their healing journeys. I believe in the power of personal growth, a conviction grounded in my own journey of self-discovery, loss, grief, and the challenges of supporting loved ones through illness. These experiences have not only shaped me but also deepened my understanding of the human experience. I view moments of pain as opportunities for profound growth. My commitment to ongoing personal growth fuels the empathy and insight I bring to my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I'll answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process and how I typically work with clients. I'll ask you about yourself, what difficulties you want to work through, and any previous therapeutic experiences (what you liked and didn't like). This information will help me create an individualized plan for our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am dedicated to facilitating healing and growth in those I work with, recognizing that every challenge in life is an opportunity for transformation.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I was initially trained to use a psychodynamic and attachment-based theoretical approach six years ago and it continues to inform my work. I assist clients in recognizing and exploring the influence of their past on their present, fostering acceptance, and facilitating positive change. Developing awareness of these patterns can empower individuals to reshape problematic relational patterns.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

My work aims to decrease shame and reactivity while increasing emotional awareness, mindfulness, and resiliency. I actively encourage clients to cultivate awareness of their emotions, thoughts, and sensations, assisting them in staying grounded during moments of overwhelm or activation.

Integrative

My approach incorporates relational, psychodynamic, attachment, humanistic, and mindfulness therapeutic methods. I also integrate sex therapy-informed, somatic-informed, IFS-informed, and trauma-informed exercises and practices. The work centers on self-examination, self-reflection, present awareness, and utilizing the therapist-client relationship as a lens into interpersonal dynamics. The goal is to reveal clients' roles in challenging patterns, providing the insight and empowerment necessary to transform these dynamics.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I received two years of training at a community mental health clinic that catered to a diverse population. The clinic provides affordable, sliding-scale counseling to people in need for as long as they need care. This experience was invaluable and I have continued to work with clients from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Relational

I believe in the collaborative nature of therapy, fostering insight and personal growth within a supportive environment. In relational therapy, individuals discover how they might inadvertently push people away or keep them at a distance rather than foster deep friendships and relationships, and explore how these behaviors connect with past experiences. The primary objective is to cultivate new perspectives on relationships, forge a strong therapeutic alliance, and utilize both insights and the therapeutic relationship as a model for fostering healthier, more enduring connections with others. Relational therapy aims to bolster an individual's self-concept, empowerment, and their capacity for patience and trust in interpersonal interactions. It involves learning about boundaries, compromise, and maintaining healthy relationship dynamics. Strong relationships lead to a satisfying life and overall well-being, and this approach can contribute to enhancing stability and security in an individual's daily life.
