I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with a Specialization in Dance Movement Therapy, and also hold a certification in Laughter Yoga. I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach and theory, as well as draw from the Expressive Arts Therapies, mindfulness and somatic based practices. I have been told I am an open, grounded and empathetic listener, who helps others feel safe and comfortable, but also, when appropriate, has a good sense of humor. No matter what your unique story or circumstance, let’s work together to write your next life chapter. To live a healthy and balanced life, inside and out, with more joy, self-awareness, self- love, possibilities, and inner peace. I look forward to meeting you.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Hello there. First of all congratulations for putting yourself first and pursuing an opportunity take control and ownership over your mental health. This is your therapy, so we are going to take some time to get to know each other. Because this is your therapy I am here to partner with you, not to dictate, judge or tell you what to do. My job is to help build trust and safety as we develop a therapeutic relationship. You will guide where the session will go and we can take things gently and one step at a time. This is a no judgement zone, and I am here to listen, support and guide you when you feel you need it.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I feel I am empathetic, a good listener, allow for space in the therapeutic relationship, enthusiastic, grounded and have a good sense of humor when appropriate. I have been told that I have a way of making people feel seen, heard and safe. I like to encourage and inspire others to stretch out of their comfort zones, but meet them where they are and am sensitive about when to gently nudge and when to allow space for processing and for them to move at their own pace. I believe in people and possibilities and am very passionate and supportive when it comes to someone who has a dream.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
Life is everchanging, and we go through different seasons and transitions, often being asked to access our resilience and coping skills to navigate our path in the moment. Having to face life transitions can sometimes feel anxiety provoking and scary, but also can be transformational and exciting. Starting from where you are, and looking forward, we can craft your next chapter of your life, whether you've experienced the ending of a relationship, passing of a loved one, have experienced trauma, have been working on your recovery from substance use, or other mental health challenges. You may be entering a new age and phase of life that feels daunting and are having trouble releasing past narratives or stories that might keep you stuck or feeling undeserving of a joyful peaceful life. Through an integrative therapeutic approach, inclusive of various arts and mindfulness modalities, the hope is to help build your self-esteem so that you can take up the space and live the story that is uniquely yours to own, with coping skills in place and the ability to keep yourself present in the moment and navigate emotions that may have thrown you off course in the past.
