Hi, I'm Mark (Rogers) and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and counselor supervisor (LMHC-S). I have been providing different styles of counseling for decades. While in the military, serving as a crypto analyst, I provided life and career counseling for junior enlisted members. During this time I was assisting young men and women ranging in age from 18 to 40 years of age. I achieved a great deal of personal satisfaction helping them achieve their personal and professional goals. During my decades with the Florida Department of Corrections I was able to provide life coaching and skill building, as well as honing diagnostic abilities, while working with a wide variety of chronic, acute, and adjustment issues. Working closely with other mental health and health care professionals, I was able to establish a well-rounded interdisciplinary team approach to mental health treatment. At one point I was the sole provider of mental health treatment for approximately 3400 incarcerated individual, providing treatment, evaluations, and emergent care for those in need. I have also worked in the school system providing mental health care for 4 to 18 year olds. Working with these young people has been extremely rewarding. This experience has reinforced my belief that everyone has issues that are unique (at least in part) to themselves. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the key to success in therapy. My approach to treatment is to provide a safe and understanding place for persons to explore their specific needs and learn skills that help them grow. It is a conversation with a purpose, the purpose being helping overcome some difficulty. Some people only need a nudge in the right direction and they blossom into their new roles, while others need more assistance and need to be with me longer.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I consider our first session a two-way interview. You interviewing me to see if I am someone who is able to help you in the way that you need to be helped. I am interviewing you, gathering background information and evaluating your situation, to see if I can be of help. It will, hopefully, feel like a conversation with someone you feel comfortable with.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I enjoy seeing other people thrive. It is the reason that I have continued in this profession. Helping others achieve their goals has always been an uplifting experience for the both of us, myself and the person I am working with, My approach has always been that anyone who desires to make changes for themselves will receive all the skills and encouragement that I can provide.
