In a society that encourages us to disconnect from ourselves, it can be difficult to tap into who we are and what we truly need to be happy in life. As a healer/wellness worker, my goal is helping people access that. I practice from a decolonized/intersectional lens, which means I combine psychology with political, ancestral/spiritual, and collective awareness to meet the unique mental health needs of minorities and people with marginalized identities (Black/Brown/Indigenous People of Color, LGBTQIA+/TGNB individuals, people with disabilities/chronic illness, people existing in plus-sized bodies, individuals with neurodiversities, etc). I like to approach sessions with an eclectic and intuitive use of techniques and theories that help my clients to positively reframe their ideas of self-care/mental health, explore their individual needs, goals, and experiences, and discover their most authentic selves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

On your path to healing and self-actualization, we will work on your personalized goals, but we will also: •Share laughs and spend time connecting as people • Address stressors and identify patterns in your daily life such as with work/school, relationships, etc. • Explore your identity and belief systems • Practice self-validation and personal empowerment • Unpack individual, inter-generational, societal, and cultural traumas, and explore how those experiences impact you • Practice ways to slow down and be present in your day to day life • Explore if there is an underlying neurodivergence that explains how you observe and interact with the world • Learn to challenge societal norms and traditional constructs that may be out of alignment with the authentic you (including norms/concepts that exist in traditional, Western therapy) • Practice accepting areas of yourself and your life that you cannot change while learning how to implement healthy control over things you can change • Assess how systems of oppression impact/have impacted you and develop understanding on how those systems contribute to your individual stressors or issues • Practice self-observation, self-curiosity, and self-compassion • Work towards living a more conscious life by developing insight and self-awareness • Explore tools to healthy Mind-Body-Soul connection • Develop sacred self-care practices

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strength as a provider is my ability to form authentic, personable connections with my clients. I enjoy combining my lived experiences, personality, and humor with my clinical skill set, and believe that joy, laughter, and connection are some of the most therapeutic things that can be incorporated into the healing space.

My treatment methods

Transpersonal

No matter what aspect of your life we are focusing on, my underlying aim will always be helping you to identify, understand, and integrate all parts of yourself. Working with me means our therapeutic journey will be filled with self-discovery of who you are mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, socially, creatively, and intellectually.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Understanding our emotions is paramount to understanding ourselves and our needs. I am not the therapist to look to if you are looking to escape reality or suppress your emotions - if you work with me, I’m gonna get you in your feelings! I enjoy teaching my clients how to build relationship with their emotions by helping them to identify emotions, feel into and sit with emotions, and explore healthy and beneficial ways to nurture and express emotions.

Trauma Informed Care

We live in a complex world where we are met with tons of complex experiences. It is important that my clients experience sessions as a safe, well-integrated, and non-judgmental space for them to land. Within our sessions, we will observe and build awareness on the ways your personal experiences have affected you, and explore ways to heal from those experiences.

Somatic

We often discount how intelligent and communicative our physical bodies are, as well as how they interact with our mind, heart, and spirit. Our bodies hold memories, emotions, and sacred knowledge, and they can tell us a lot about our most innate needs. With use of Mindfulness-Somatic approaches, we will explore ways to fully observe and integrate your physical body into your healing experience in order to understand your needs, soothe stress responses, and improve nervous system functioning.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Understanding and incorporating cultural identities/struggles and intersectionality is a crucial part of the care I provide. It is important that clients working with me understand that, as a decolonized therapist, therapy with me is a radical and anti-oppressive safe space. I prioritize understanding my clients’ identities, experiences, needs, values, and beliefs, on an individual level as well as in the context of the world in which they exist.
