Samantha Fooce has been working in the human services field since 1999. Her first position as an unlicensed (paraprofessional) “Crisis Counselor” was working midnight shift in 1999-2001 at Pathways Inc’s Crisis Center in Ashland, Ky. Since that time, she has had experience working as a Child Protective Services Case Manager, Crime Victim’s Advocate, Therapeutic Program Worker, School-Based Counselor, Chemical Dependency Counselor and as a Clinical Director prior to opening her own office in 2019. She received her first license in counseling in 2007 in the state of Ohio and later became licensed in WV. It is likely that she has had the experience to understand the situations you are going through.
During our first session together, we will explore your reasons for seeking treatment, individual stressors, how you are affected in various aspects of your life, some background information, strengths and resources and additional information to assist with your treatment. We will work together to create a personalized treatment plan addressing your goals for us to use in follow-up sessions. Your clinician will strive to answer any questions you may have.
I hope that I can help you achieve your goals while honoring the belief that you are the expert of your own life.

Counseling Approach: My counseling style is eclectic in order to meet all individual client needs, but much of my work is based on Humanistic theory, primarily Client-Centered and Existential. I believe it is important to fully explore your strengths, resources and desires and keep you actively involved in decision making throughout the therapeutic process. I enjoy motivating my clients, exploring and expanding their options for growth and helping them open their eyes to their own potential. While childhood, genetics, environment and past experiences are strong forces in a person’s life, how we process our experiences and the meaning we assign them can make the difference in whether we continue to endure suffering or learn to thrive and lead fulfilling lives. Through self-discovery, goal-setting, healthy coping strategies, support, psychoeducation and practicing more positive thinking and behavioral patterns, our lives can be improved. There are many theories and techniques used in therapy today. If you wish to pursue a certain type of theory or technique, please let me know.
