I am a licensed professional counselor and Texas certified school counselor. I love working with teenagers/adolescents as I work as a crisis counselor in a North Texas school district. I am passionate about helping individuals move from stuck to unstuck and helping them find hope, healing and freedom through intrinsically motivated questions and reflection. I have worked with many individuals suffering with grief and loss as well as working with those suffering from various traumatic events. My training in EMDR has been a spectacular resource to help clients suffering with trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, my primary goal is for you to tell me about you! I enjoy hearing your story and the unique facets that make you, you! Within our first session, I do not expect us to dive deep into the reason you came for counseling as I know it can be difficult to jump in to the hard stuff, but rather, we work to build a strong therapeutic bond between the two of us where you feel confident and safe sharing your story with me. During our first session, I will be sure to tell you a little bit about me and my theory of practice. I want you to ask questions and feel comfortable with the work we will be doing together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that one of my greatest strengths is the ability to connect with my clients. I want my clients to feel comfortable and at ease sharing with me. This also piggy back's on my second strength, which is that I love to challenge beliefs and confront inconsistencies that might be holding my client back. When a safe and supportive relationship has been built, the opportunity for challenging beliefs and confronting inconsistencies can be received and evaluated by the client when they know that their provider genuinely cares for them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is integral to my therapeutic approach, offering structured and evidence-based techniques to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns. By collaboratively examining how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interconnect, I assist clients in developing practical strategies to address their challenges. CBT empowers clients by teaching them skills to manage stress, improve problem-solving, and foster healthier perspectives, ultimately promoting lasting positive changes in their lives.

EMDR

In my practice, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process and resolve traumatic memories and distressing experiences. By guiding clients through sets of bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or taps, I facilitate the adaptive processing of memories, allowing them to become less distressing and integrated into a more balanced understanding of their past. EMDR is a powerful tool that promotes healing by accessing the brain's natural ability to heal from psychological trauma, leading to reduced symptoms and increased resilience for my clients.

Trauma Informed Care

In my practice, trauma-informed care is foundational to creating a safe and supportive environment for clients who have experienced trauma. I prioritize understanding the impact of trauma on individuals' lives and emphasize safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment in our therapeutic relationship. By integrating trauma-sensitive approaches into every aspect of therapy, I aim to promote healing and resilience while respecting clients' autonomy and strengths throughout their journey towards recovery and well-being.
