Hello, I'm Kendal. Do you ever find yourself having a hard time with your thoughts? To the point where it makes life as a whole more difficult? Are you having a hard time with allowing yourself to feel good about yourself? Has it gotten harder for you to maintain your relationships? I tackle these challenges with people who come from diverse backgrounds. I want to work with you to find out what's helping you and what isn't so that you can create simple changes that bring you back to feeling more like yourself, and creating a sense of balance in your life and in your mind. I approach you as a unique individual with your own needs, and integrate CBT, DBT, and MI into my approaches, as well as metaphors to help make complex concepts more relatable. I work with depression and it's negative thoughts, anxiety and it's racing worry thoughts, and LGBTQIA+ issues just to name a few. I want to help you in an environment that feels safe and can promote lasting growth. I firmly believe that each and every person deserves therapy from a mindset of cultural humility, and will bring that into our time together along with empathy and evidenced-based practices to help you navigate the struggles you bring in. I look forward to working with you!
In our first session, we'll cover brief introductions and I'll be collecting more information from you about how it is that you're struggling. This helps me develop a plan tailored to you for the course of our appointments.
I utilize CBT tools and skills, DBT skills, motivational interviewing questions, as well as a Recovery Model mindset as the foundations for my style of practice.
My greatest strength is my ability to make complex concepts more approachable and real. Also, in my six years of experience I've developed a unique style that includes metaphors and humor when appropriate.
While much of my clinical training was focused on eating disorders, I am trained in working with a wide variety of symptoms and topics.
