Hello. My name is Katrina Pratcher. I have 17 years of experience practicing as a PMHNP. I earned a BS.Ed in Education from Wilberforce University and a MSN from California State University Long Beach. I am ANCC board certified across the life span. My clinical background is spread across the psych arena: community mental health, corrections, juvenile justice, dual diagnosis in chemical dependency rehabilitation, crisis intervention, LGBTQIA+ community and clinical trials research, inpatient and outpatient care. I cam currently licensed in California and Arizona. I specialize in treating clients with Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, Schizophrenia Disorders and Schizoaffective Disorders. I am no longer providing treatment for client with symptoms of ADD/ADHD because of changing DEA guidelines. I love psychiatry. I am an excellent listener, which helps to identify the issues that my clients are concerned about and formulation of the appropriate and effective treatment plan. I am licensed in California and Arizona, and I would invite the opportunity to help you on your life’s journey.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
During the Initial Assessment, the client communicate the thoughts, feeling and issues that caused concern and may have altered their lives. I identify the symptoms that are disclosed, which help to identify a diagnosis and develop a plan of treatment. I begin learning about the client: traumatic events, illnesses, treatment, fears, addictions, successes, failures, family, education - as much as possible and build on this knowledge over the therapeutic relationship. I then recommend appropriate to restore mental and emotional health. Follow up visits last for a shorter period as we continue building the foundation and perfect the treatment course.+
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
Nurse Practitioners primarily use medication and include small sessions of therapy. We may also use assessments scales to determine the frequency and intensity of symptoms.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I am compassionate and many of my clients feel free to cry if necessary. I understand and empathize with the wide spectrum of traumatic events and genetic predisposition that may have brought clients to mental and emotional discomfort. I am honest and hopeful. I respect all people, and I love the work.
