Hi, I'm Genobia. What's your story? My ideal client is willing to evaluate the story of their life so far, revise this current chapter, and make a rough draft of the next chapter. Whether you are dealing with a life transition, anxiety, depression, burnout, or grief, this chapter can have a happier ending, if you are willing to work with me. For my entire life, I have loved to read and write. When I realized that there was a "story" inside of each person, waiting to be "read", I couldn't wait to become a therapist. My best attribute is my ability to work with and get connect with anyone, regardless of age, ethnic background, political leaning, or any other type of experience.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first thing we’ll do… … is decide how we’ll work together: virtually or in person. Virtual sessions are done through video on your preferred device (e.g., laptop or phone). Find a safe, comfortable, private place to talk, and I’ll be waiting for you! This option’s available if you’re in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Texas, or Oregon. For in-person sessions, my office is a treat! You’ll feel like it’s a space designed exactly for you. When you come in, you’ll find an open waiting area where you’ll sign in electronically. As you wait, I’ll have snacks and beverages to help you feel at home. When you come back to my office, feel free to snuggle on the couch or take your shoes off while I get something for you. And in the office, you don’t have to worry about anyone hearing you in the next room. I have white noise-canceling technology to ensure your privacy. Relax… this is your time.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As I have matured in my life and practice, I now know that my experiences working with youth and their families are at the forefront of my clinical experience, but I have also had great joy in working with those who are in their middle and elder years of life. The School of Hard Knocks gave me experiences as a friend, parent, spouse, and caregiver...All of these experiences have led me to this moment, where I am here for you. I hope that you will allow me to become a part of your “village”.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use a solution focused approach to be able to help my clients target their behavior.

Christian Counseling

I help clients to identify their experiences with their faith, to help guide them through difficult times.

Motivational Interviewing

I use motivational interviewing to help my clients, by asking open ended questions, and affirming self-efficacy, hope, and confidence in my client's ability to change.

Multicultural

I use this approach especially with my clients who grew up in a different culture than the American culture. Because I was raised in a different culture, I am able to use some of the similarities to help my clients to feel understood, and to learn new skills to adapt to, while retaining their uniqueness.
