Hey there. Thank you for taking time to show up and do the hard thing! Therapy can be intimidating for many so I'd like to acknowledge your strength in exploring this option. My name is Renee and I'm a LGBTQIA+ identified Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Florida. A little of my background: Prior to getting licensed, I worked in a domestic violence shelter for 9+ years as an advocate, assisting in trauma informed care and utilizing an empowerment based model of care to give our clients the tools for self efficacy. Since graduating from the University of South Florida with my Masters in Social Work in 2019 my experience has ranged from helping those with relationship conflict, crisis work, severe mental illness, Veteran issues, suicide prevention and general therapy for anxiety and depression. I currently specialize in providing services to (but not limited to) the LGBTQA+ community and women navigating issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues and other concerns. I use an eclectic, laid back approach to therapy to help with your goals. Diversity is important to me and I'm committed to providing a safe, inclusive space for all my clients during their sessions with me. I look forward to helping you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together, we'll have brief introductions and start the intake process. The intake process will include me providing you space to tell your narrative so I can better understand your roots as we collaboratively work towards your goals in therapy. We will also discuss what progress looks like for you regarding these goals and continue to check in utilizing measurement based care (don't worry, I'll explain this in therapy!) to see how these goals have progressed throughout our sessions together. Progress and growth looks different for every individual. That said, I will be there to provide guidance and empower you towards your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With 10+ years of experience in helping individuals navigate life's difficulties I find one of my greatest strengths as a provider is being able to truly hear you and develop a treatment plan for success. Providing an inclusive, mindful and trauma informed approach to therapy allows my clients to feel seen, to discover their strengths and the confidence to trust themselves in finding the change they seek.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Anxiety. Depression. Negative thoughts. Feeling overwhelmed. Boundaries. Communication. Empowerment. We've heard these terms often but how do they apply to our own unique situations? We may have awareness but lack the tools to help come out the other side. I help provide my clients with the tools, support and education on identifying these concerns, how to find their way through them utilizing an inclusive and trauma informed approach. Navigating change and discomfort can be challenging at first but you'll find a supportive environment in our sessions to explore your concerns further.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I am relatively new to this treatment method but find it is a great behavioral therapeutic approach to unhooking from things you feel no longer serve you. It blends well utilizing a mindfulness approach.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have several years of experience utilizing CBT with clients to help with thought and behavior patterns that lead to distress. I approach this method in conjunction with mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

When engaging with therapy, we will utilize mindfulness to help bring awareness to our thoughts, feelings and what is coming up within our bodies to help bring focus to the mind-body connection. I also utilize elements of yoga (I have a 200hr YTT certification) to compliment these practices.

Trauma Informed Care

In any modality I utilize, I approach it utilizing trauma informed care to provide compassionate and empathetic listening during our sessions.

Multicultural

As a LGBTQAI+ identified therapist, approaching therapy through an inclusive lens is of the upmost importance. Our experiences are often informed by our individual identities. It is important to factor this into therapy and have an understanding of how different systems intersect with different identities.
