Hi there! I'm Jenna. I'm a newly licensed psychologist (PhD) based in Northern California. We're all a few adjustments from making our lives work, whether these require smaller or larger adjustments to reduce suffering. My patients are the experts in their own lives, and my job is to create space to process, explore, and learn how to relate to experiences differently. Whether it's learning skill-building and relaxation techniques to improve one's ability to regulate one's emotions or learning how to "say no" assertively, therapy will be informative, collaborative, comfortable, and transparent.
The first session is an opportunity to discuss your background and aspects of your identity that are valuable to you, ask questions, and get a sense of whether we're a "good fit" as a therapist-client. It's important that you have a therapist you "vibe with" and feel as comfortable as possible with, and our first session helps you get a sense of me as a therapist.
I'm passionate about helping people and truly enjoy helping patients navigate life, whether that's questioning aspects of identity, moving with grief through life, feelings of shame or guilt, relationship constellations found within polyamory/CNM relationships, or concerns with peripartum mental health.
I draw on multiple therapeutic modalities using a targeted, patient-centered treatment approach that incorporates aspects of culture and intersecting identities to develop a collaborative plan that meets your treatment goals. These approaches may include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), various cognitive-behavioral approaches to treat chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, headaches secondary to a traumatic brain injury or other medical condition, skills-based behavioral strategies that address functional changes due to a medical condition, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) for depression, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) for depression, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to bereavement or complicated/prolonged grief. I believe each person is an expert in their own life and collaborate to help each person develop specific treatment goals that help guide the process. Each patient is asked to practice skills, complete homework exercises outside the session, and regularly fill out measures to help track their symptoms.
