As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I have experience working with clients and families of all ages and backgrounds who have experienced a variety of challenges. I bring to the table an eclectic psycho therapeutic approach utilizing evidenced based therapeutic interventions. I believe that you need to meet each individual that you are working with where they are, creating a safe and secure environment in order to promote strength and balance. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental, and collaborative setting for my clients to share their thoughts and their feelings and feel safe while doing so. It is important to allow each individual person to feel empowered, to let them know how resilient they are, and to be better equipped to handle life's everyday stressors. Seeking out mental health services can be overwhelming and scary at first. But it is my goal as a therapist to help my clients feel safe and to allow them to truly be themselves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session we will spend time getting to know each other and building rapport. Therapist will gather the information necessary to develop goals with the client and learn about the therapy process Clients will have a chance to ask any questions they have for the therapist and a set time will be made with the therapist each week for treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in foster care for over 12 years and working in the mental health field, I feel that my strengths are connecting with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use a variety of treatment modalities in my practice, but I get a lot of clients who experience depression and anxiety, have negative thinking patters, and often ruminate in their thoughts. This modaility tends to me most useful when treating these clients and their symptoms.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I like to use this modality when appropriate because it focuses on the clients strengths and resources which I feel are very important in finding solutions to the problem, rather than discovering the cause of the origin. This is perfect to use in brief treatment since treatment is sometimes limited to only a few sessions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I like using this modailty when cliens are struggling with their emotional and cognitive regulation. The theory focuses on change happening through mindfulness practices and the cients ability to develop skills to manage stress tolerance and emotional regulation.

Psychodynamic

When appropriate the focus is on change occuring through insight and understanding of early, unresolved issues. Past influences the presetn, underlying conflicts, and understanding defense mechanisms.
