Hi! I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I was born in Chicago, Illinois but grew up in Mexico City. I speak Spanish fluently and I am bicultural (Mexican/American). I understand that different cultural dynamics can affect a therapeutic relationship and therefore, I am mindful of the importance of providing non-judgmental therapy. I have a long history of working in multicultural clinical settings that deal mostly with trauma, providing me with extensive trauma training and experience in treating individuals with a history of post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. I am a trauma-informed therapist trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Freedom Technique, and Mindfulness, as well as a Certified Anger Management Specialist. I can provide anger management classes for groups or individuals mandated by the court. I believe in utilizing evidence-based interventions to the best of my ability with the hope of helping you overcome and cope with grief or loss, trauma, and any other struggles you might be facing. I believe that every living being has the fundamental right to be loved, respected, and cared for. My goal as a therapist is to be able to provide quality adult mental health care regardless of race, income, religion, or sexual identity.

My treatment methods

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I am Mexican/American and understand that different cultural dynamics can affect a therapeutic relationship. Therefore, I am mindful of the importance of providing non-judgmental therapy. I have a long history of working in multicultural clinical settings and have training in culturally sensitive therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I am trained in CBT, including CBT for trauma from the Beck Institute.

Integrative

I am trained in several interventions and integrate mindfulness techniques, the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), bilateral stimulation, and yoga for trauma if needed into my session.

EMDR

I am trained in EMDR and can implement it if the client meets the criteria to be treated with the EMDR method. EMDR is an option, not a requirement, and not the only treatment modality that treats trauma, anxiety, or depression. I am trained in several approaches and integrated them based on the client's needs and preferences.
