I am a licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Michigan and have been working in the field since 2013. While substance use is my expertise, I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, relationship and career challenges. I have also worked with a wide range of clientele from children to adults, individuals to families. My goal as your therapist is to create a safe space, empowering you with the tools to achieve your goals. I want my clients to feel supported, encouraged, and cared for. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, motivational interviewing, humanistic, and solution-focused - a combination that allows you to feel heard and allows me to truly understand you. I am a strong believer in person-centered treatment, a collaborative process where we create a plan that meets your specific needs and desires. I know taking this first step can be intimidating; I applaud your strength and I am here to walk alongside you as you work towards change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I want to get to know one another and answer any questions you may have so that you can know if I'm the right fit. I will ask questions about what you want out of therapy and make a plan for our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to build relationships with clients. The therapeutic relationship sets the stage for change and growth. I work from day one to build a relationship built on trust and openness, knowing that those traits are required of me, as well. I believe in healthy self-disclosure as part of strengthening the therapeutic relationship.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a highly researched evidence-based practice that is at the foundation of my work. It is client-centered, working with a person's natural strengths to help them identify their motivation for change and harness it.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors a person has about a problem. It is effective for people looking for coping skills and wanting to change their thought patterns. I use it frequently in combination with other evidence-based practices and interventions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have gone through advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and can provide Dialectical Behavior Therapy-informed treatment. DBT focuses on teaching four core skills: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation. It's an amazing form of therapy and useful for a variety of mental health concerns.

Humanistic

Humanistic, similar to motivational interviewing, is person-centered and is intended to guide people to higher self-awareness to reach a more fulfilling life. I use it to help empower people explore their inner world.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma is so prevalent in our society, it's vital that therapists are trained and comfortable with being trauma informed to prevent re-traumatizing individuals. It's important to me to be aware and respectful of someone's past experiences and learn how that impacts their life.
