Welcome! My name is Jenny. In case you haven’t heard it today—I am so proud of you. You’re here for a reason and I believe that it is because you feel like you’re ready to make some positive change in your life. Everyone has the capacity to change and grow into the best version of themselves and therapy is a tool we can use to achieve that. My goal is to create a safe space that allows my clients to decompress, reflect, and develop coping skills to help them deal with anxiety and depression. I focus on helping clients explore their own resilience and examples of past success, as well as challenge their negative thoughts and replace them with more helpful, positive ones. Therapy can help you build your confidence, self-esteem/self-love, and give you the tools to cope when difficult situations arise. You are not alone. There is always hope and I'm here if you're ready to talk.
During our initial sessions we will explore what your goals are, focus on your strengths, resources, and examples of past success. We will work together to create a treatment plan and help you get your life back by teaching you coping skills, increasing distress tolerance, and foster a sense of hope.
I am both an artist as well as a therapist and believe that combining expressive arts/experiential therapy with mental health treatment is a great way to engage clients and foster a sense of purpose/joy. Working collaboratively will allow us to create a treatment plan that has measurable and achievable goals.
I enjoy working with marginalized populations such as LGBTQ+ individuals, women, refugees/immigrants, and people of color. My clients are open-minded to learning and need guidance to help them on their healing journey. I often work with people who are struggling with anxiety, life transitions, interpersonal conflict, and self-esteem.
We will do grounding and mindfulness exercises together to better understand and manage your thoughts and emotions. Mindfulness helps you get out of your own head and stay in the present moment. My goal is to not only talk to you about coping skills but help you practice using them. Utilizing coping skills should become similar to a reflex-- the more we utilize coping skills, the easier it becomes to use them when we need them most.
I am really big on experiential/expressive arts therapy being incorporated into my practice-- I want you to utilize everything you can to make your healing journey not only beneficial but joyful. Let's incorporate nature, music, writing, arts and crafts-- all of this can help people find inspiration and hope. If you like the idea of homework, I can give you fun and meaningful assignments to work on in-between our sessions.
