Hi, I’m Gabby! Professionally, I am a licensed clinical social worker, but at heart I will always be a small town midwest gal with a passion for helping others. I have over 12 years experience in social services serving at risk and underserved individuals in a number of settings from outpatient mental health clinics all the way to acute psychiatric care in hospital and residential treatment settings. My values lie in empathy, integrity, and self advocacy for all which is reflected throughout the treatment process and the care I provide to my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is acceptance, empathy, and humor. The world can be a terrifying and challenging place, not to mention coming to therapy and being asked to explain your whole life story to a stranger during some of the most vulnerable moments in your life! As a provider, I strive to make you feel comfortable and understood (and maybe make you laugh a time or two).

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT techniques help clients identify and challenge reoccurring negative thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This modality is based on the word "dialect" meaning a pair of seemingly contradictory ideas, thoughts, or emotions can both be true at the same time. This comprehensive approach empowers clients to build resilience, improve relationships, and cultivate a greater sense of stability in their lives by encompassing mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.

Motivational Interviewing

This approach is designed to enhance motivation for change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. Typically, we think of this modality as being used in medical settings surrounding smoking cessation or substance use however can be applied to any behavior modification we are looking to make in our lives.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have been fully trained and using this modality in practice for the past 3 years with clients in acute mental health treatment settings. This modality is a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. It integrates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles.

Eclectic

Utilizing an eclectic approach that combines various therapeutic techniques and theories in order to tailor treatment to your specific needs.
