Hello! Im Nanna, a licensed therapist here at Grow. My approach is through evidence based treatment and active listening. It is never my place to judge! My focus is to assist each person in reaching their/his/ her therapeutic goals. I LOVE the career I have chosen! It is so satisfying to work with people to help them find relief and happiness. I am a certified Rational-Emotive & Cognitive-Behavioral therapist with 18 years of experience. This experience includes treating mood disorders (depression, anxiety, etc), OCD and related disorders, addiction issues, personality disorders, phase of life issues, anger management issues as well as basic couples issues (jealousy or communication issues). I received my REBT training through the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. My training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is through Dr. Lane Pederson. I was also trained as an anger management specialist through NAMA. My work experience is in intensive outpatient and residential programs for substance use issues, in nursing homes with the geriatric population and in a university counseling center. I also have 12 years experience supervising LPC-Associates. With over 4 years experience providing telehealth counseling, what I have found is that it is an easy and comfortable way for you to get the help you want, when you want, where you want. Telehealth counseling allows us to meet on your lunch break, during your child's nap time, from your home, your office, and at times that work best for your schedule. If you have any questions about getting started or if you do not see a time on my schedule that works for you, please feel free to contact me. I am happy to answer your questions. I look forward to working with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together I will do a lot of listening and ask questions about your background as well as current situation. I will ask you to set goals-how will we know when we are finished with counseling? From there, we will discuss all treatment options and I will ask you to choose our starting point in your treatment. There is homework but do not worry there are no grades! Based on the information you share with me and what you want to get out of therapy, I will email you therapeutic suggestions. Each session we will assess if we are on the correct path to helping you reach your goals.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

As a rational-emotive cognitive-behavioral therapist, I will be listening for the irrational thoughts and showing you how to dispute those thoughts. Irrational thoughts disturb us and leaving us feeling depressed, anxious and angry. We often do not have a lot of control over the world around us, but what we believe about the world and ourselves is an area we can control. If we work to think more rationally and realistically, then we will feel better and this lends more motivation to find solutions and resolutions. We cannot discount the importance and effectiveness of self-care, staying active, finding purpose, building and leaning on a strong support system, and carving out time for fun and relaxation. We will be looking at focusing on these areas as well!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Over the years, my clients have shared that they find me empathic and a great listener. They have shared that they feel heard, seen and not judged. I pride myself on letting the client lead the direction of his/her/their therapy. Ive been told that I have a gentle way of offering suggestions and input as well as effective therapeutic homework.
