My name is Misti Bryant Bradshaw. I started practicing nursing in May 2020. I have worked exclusively with behavioral health patients since 2017. I graduated with my Master's of Nursing from Walden University in 2020. I worked with both patients and healthcare professionals throughout the Covid pandemic in both the emergency department and inpatient units. After the pandemic I have continued to see patients in both hospital and outpatient settings. The increased rates of depression, anxiety, grief and even suicidal ideation have increased exponentially since the pandemic. Our children and adolescents have suffered tremendously. I have seen children as young as 6 years old suffering with suicidal ideation. My hope is to get ahead of the current mental health crisis by serving patients before they are themselves in crisis.
The first thing I want to know is what are their goals and passions and what are their frustrations and barriers to meeting their goals. In addition, what are their expectations of our interactions. Do they just want a prescription and that's it or would they like to discuss other options such talk therapy and techniques, quality sleep, activity level and to better understand how all these factors as well as genetics affect their mental health.
I have a sincere desire to meet the patient where they are. Patient centered care is essential. Each person is unique and will best respond to a treatment plan built specifically for them. I have been caring for patients over 25 years. During that time, I've learned that truly listening and including the patient in the development of that treatment plan results in better outcomes.
I've worked with children as young as 6 years old and those at the end of life. I enjoy seeing patients once again feeling hopeful and ready to fully engage with life.
Attached based therapy specifically targets thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that were learned during the formative years to more easily navigate their interactions with others. It is difficult to understand why some relationships are consistently turbulent if you are unaware of your attachment style. Restoring relationships and learning how to establish healthy boundaries within relationships is the primary goal. This therapy may be initiated in individual, couples, or family sessions.
Christian counseling incorporates faith, prayer and other scripture-based concepts to promote healing through the lens of a Christian worldview. Clients of Christian faith benefit from including these measures to heal emotional and traumatic wounds.
Living in an overly fast paced environment often leads to depression and anxiety. There are never enough hours in the day or days in a week. Mindfulness therapy offers techniques to find stillness and the freedom to take a few deep breaths even when life is overwhelming.
We often hold stress in various parts of our bodies. This can lead to both physical and mental pain. Exploring techniques to better manage this pain and even prevent the pain will result in an overall higher quality of life.
