Like a sports star who sees their team losing, no matter what it is you are facing, I'm confidently yelling, "Put me in coach!" because I love what I do and I am damn good at it. The therapeutic work we do together will not necessarily be easy, but I can assure you that it will be effective and along the journey you and I are going to laugh together, you will look forward to our sessions, we will form a genuine bond, and you will find relief from that which troubles you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together we’ll dive into the specific challenges you are facing and we will create a tailored plan which we will work through in future sessions. My focus is always on getting you relief as quickly as possible. I take time early on to do a thorough assessment which unfortunately not all practicing clinicians do so often I find that clients come to me with diagnoses that are not accurate for example Depression when in fact they struggle with Anxiety, and vice versa!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Mood disorders (depression, anxiety); Adjustment disorders secondary to biopsychosocial stressors; Trauma (including Complex PTSD & PTSD as well as attachment difficulties); Women’s issues including parenting stress; life phase issues including single-hood/dating in 20’s & 30’s; Anger management; Domestic violence; Self-esteem enhancement; Stress management; Development of communication & coping skills; Grief & bereavement; Addiction recovery; Unsatisfactory relationship including a partner with personality disorder; relationship conflict including infidelity; Separation/divorce

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Anxiety, depression, bipolar, and ADHD are what I most commonly see patients misdiagnosed with, when in fact they are experiencing symptoms of trauma. Now that being said sometimes an anxiety disorder is overlaid on top of trauma, meaning co-morbid diagnoses. Lets work together to tease all of this out.

Attachment-based

This approach to therapy specifically targets those thoughts, feelings, communications, behaviors, and interpersonal exchanges that you have learned --either to suppress and avoid or to amplify and overemphasize-- because of early attachment experiences. Attachment relationships matter, A LOT, whether we like it or not ugh. Lets tease out your attachment history and attachment style, you'll be surprised at how much you suddenly understand your relationships with parents, friends, co-workers, bosses, and of course ROMANTIC PARTNERS (the relationship most people come to therapy to talk about)!

Humanistic

Humanistic psychology believes that people are innately good and focuses on helping people reach their potential by exploring their uniqueness. "When we have better we do better." Problems therefore are seen as deviations from this natural tendency and my job is to reconnect you with your life force which is always propelling you toward healing! You are not broken!

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Lets work together to get your thinking accurately and coping (behaving) in a healthy way which is what CBT does as well, when we add the step of making sure your life is centered on your values that becomes ACT therapy(a spin off of CBT). So many of my clients come in anxious or depressed but we find out that it is because they are living outside of their values (especially artists b/w)!

Psychodynamic

Gaining insights into why we do what we do is often the key to change. I can assure you that you will have many "ah-ha" moments in sessions with me, and you will no longer judge yourself so harshly with a new found understanding of the origin of the problem. This form of therapy is not often taught in the education that therapists receive so most are not comfortable with this form of therapy, but I am highly trained in this modality, so lets go there together and get to the root of things!
