My name is Eminely Soberanis and I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing psychotherapy in the Los Angeles area. I go by Nely for short and my goal as a therapist is to assist and provide awareness in your mental health journey. I have been licensed for over seven years and have worked in different settings such as hospitals, school-based, community field-based based, and telehealth services. I have worked with a variety of age groups from different backgrounds, and I plan to be your biggest support and ally while you navigate your mental health journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start off with introductions, review your intake questionnaire, and then further discuss challenges you are facing. I want you to share what you feel comfortable sharing in our first session together. Some people have a lot to say, and others don't – that is okay, we go at your pace. I hope that after our first session together, you feel more at ease and ready to continue to meet for follow-up sessions. If you don't want to schedule a follow up session, that is okay too. We can further discuss this if you like.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength would be to teach to you to challenge ongoing negative thoughts that impact your mood and behaviors. Sometimes we are not aware that we can be our own worst critic. In sessions, we will discuss any negative self-talk, ongoing negative thinking patterns, and replace these thoughts to be neutral. In other sessions, we will discuss events that impact your mood and daily behaviors. This is just a gentle reminder that we all have childhood/teenage/adult wounds that need healing and validation. Therapy is about working towards self-love, acceptance of things we cannot change, and increase our use of healthy coping skills.

Humanistic

We are all human and we make mistakes. It is okay to be afraid to be vulnerable and address our issues. People are not perfect, and we shouldn't aim to be. The goal is to work on becoming better emotionally and spiritually.

Psychodynamic

We all have impulses and tend to act out. Even adults throw tantrums in different situations. Let's explore where this is coming from.
