Do you wonder what it is like to change your old beliefs and behaviors? To live a life with meaning and reduce depression and anxiety? Do you wonder if you will ever heal from grief? Would you like to heal from trauma and live a more stress-free life? I love to work with people to help them overcome life challenges, integrate past lessons, and move forward positively. I take an eclectic approach and especially love using CBT strategies to help recognize thought patterns and change old negative beliefs. Including whatever creative interest you have in therapy can be extremely rewarding and insightful. If you are not creative, it's ok! Talk therapy is powerful and practicing what is learned is important as well. Other modalities include Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy. I have a very holistic approach. My goal is to create a safe place and to build rapport with you in the therapeutic relationship so we can move forward together and do this very important work.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is essentially going over your information and getting a sense of what it is you would like to work on. Subsequent sessions dive deeper into your issues and your goals in therapy. If you have never been in therapy before, it may feel odd to speak to someone about painful issues. That is understandable! We will work together to unravel issues in a safe way. I also have a good sense of humor and we will undoubtedly find something to laugh about!

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a method used to recognize and change distorted thoughts and beliefs, challenge those thoughts and make changes. These changes affect behavior choices, physiology, and emotions. Solution Focused Therapy explores the strengths you have developed in life by facing past difficulties and applying those strengths and insights to improve current situations and problem-solve. Motivational Interviewing helps to move you toward change. It also has many excellent communication tools which help with relationships of all kinds. **Note: I use an eclectic approach and not necessarily one specific theoretical model.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths as a therapist are my ability to listen, read between the lines, help make connections for clients (gain insights), the use of art within therapy, and a spiritual approach. Spirituality does not have to be a part of therapy unless you would like it to be, but my own spirituality helps me stay balanced within my practice.
