Hi, I am a licensed professional counselor in NJ since 2005 but started in the field in 1992. I have worked with people in a number of different settings as well as with different diagnosis. I've spent a large portion of my career helping with loss and grief and another part helping parents navigate the tween and teen years and how to cope with children who might have a mental health diagnosis or challenge

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will spend some time talking about your history that you are comfortable sharing, what brought you to therapy now and then start to develop some goals for treatment. I also like to hear if you have had counseling before and what worked and what didn't so we're not re-inventing the wheel

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In a world where everything is a sound bite or quick reel I find that my humor and "realness" is something that keeps people engaged and eager to work on issues. I have worked in a variety of settings- some high intensity and some less so- so I'm about making our sessions relaxed and open

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

If you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed this is a great place to start! We'll figure out what steps you can take and ways that I can help you make them. I believe in a collaborative approach and even though I have the initials behind my name you know yourself best. Sometimes you just need someone to help you see yourself through a different lens

My treatment methods

Interpersonal

While I use a number of approaches, I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the cornerstone to setting and reaching goals. I use humor and real talk in sessions... I'm less about using the jargon and "techniques" as we go on our journey
