How's it going? I'm Jael. I am a LMFT from Los Angeles, California. Welcome! So you're taking the step to look for a therapist, that is awesome! It's a big step and could be overwhelming with all the options you have. Sometimes, making the first move can feel especially overwhelming if you are the first in your family or community to seek therapy or if you are trying it for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time. Therapy should be a space where you are able to be your true self. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Life happens, and sometimes we feel that we have no choice or are being pulled by relationships, work and health. But I believe the greatest power you have, is CHOICE. The choice to choose, and create infinite possibilities. Every choice leads us towards a different journey, direction in our lives and you are the expert. I will come to sessions as my authentic self, so you can feel free to do so as well. I work with a limited number of individuals because I want to be able to provide high-quality and specialized care for each person I meet. I want to meet you where you are and work together to support you in reaching your personal goals. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming life experiences, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. Let's work together and create the life you choose!
During our first session, I will review your personal goals and journey that led you to therapy. I will provide you with knowledge of how therapy works and ask you open ended questions regarding your present wellbeing and experiences to support you in exploring your goals and needs.
I have 7 years of experience working in community mental health working with teens/adult clients who struggle with mood disorders, family conflict, trauma, abuse and severe mental illness.
I love working with teens and adults. Being able to be your authentic self and assist you in overcoming the experiences in life, work, relationships or school in a healthy manner. Based on my expertise and professional background, I find my ability to assist you in helping you create the life you want by recognizing your needs and choices and how they present in your daily life journey.
I like to utilize a CBT approach with a humanistic perspective. Helping clients to identify and reframe negative thought patterns while fostering a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment that aligns with humanistic principles. It allows me to support clients to feel supported and understood as they explore their cognitive distortions and develop healthier coping strategies by promoting self-acceptance, exploration of personal values, and meaningful life goals, ensuring my client's individuality and autonomy.
