Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have have been in the social worker field for the past 8 years I completed her Bachelors degree in Social Work at Central Connecticut State University followed by a Masters in Social Work at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Work in 2016. I am a New Haven, CT native and Hopkins School alumna. My background is in therapy with adolescents, families and young adults. I currently work full time as a clinician within Yale University’s Mental Health and Counseling Center. My clinical expertise includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrative approaches to overall health and wellness. I am passionate about working with diverse populations and specialize in culturally appropriate and evidence-based practice strategies to effectively engage with individuals at their respective stages of identity development, life circumstances, or cultural, economic and religious backgrounds. I am dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental, therapeutic space for all individuals and looks forward to working with students to cultivate growth, wellness and healing.
In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions and dive into specific challenges you're facing. This will help create a tailored plan to work through during our follow up sessions.
Having worked in the social work field for 8 years, I have developed the ability to create a safe environment for clients to feel comfortable diving into their feelings, fears and challenges. I've also mastered the art of helping clients identify the root of their problems and together creating a tailored plan that helps foster improved progress.
I love working with young adults who are in beginning of exploring their own identities and in the process of trying to figure out their place in this world and find a deeper meaning to their purpose in life. I love helping people better understand their interpersonal relationships, learn how to recognize and balance their emotions/behaviors, better communicate their feelings and needs and overall feel more confident and stable within their own emotions and mental state.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one of my favorite treatment methods and on that I find the most helpful to a lot of clients. I believe that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all connected and if we can become more mindful of how that connect works and contributes to our current mental and emotional state then we can also learn how to change that way connection works to improve our mental state. I have 3 years experience working with CBT with individual clients and facilitating a CBT therapy group.
I have worked with many clients using the psychodynamic approach to help them develop deeper self awareness of how their past experiences may be impacting their current state of mind and behaviors
I have years of experience working with solution focused therapy thanks to my years in short term outpatient therapy. I have worked with clients who I only saw for 6 weeks or sometimes clients I will only meet with once or twice. In that short time frame, I have learned how to help clients find solid solutions to their immediate problems, which in turn, helped decrease anxiety or symptoms of depression.
I spent 4-5 years working in adolescent outpatient therapy from in-home family therapy programs like Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) to adolescent Intensive Outpatient therapy (IOP) where I facilitated regular child and parent therapy sessions to better improve communication and understanding between the two.
