Hello my name is Sarah Escobar LPC and I am a caring, empathetic, experienced counselor who loves to combine clinical knowledge and experience with life experience and common sense to help clients to solve problems and improve their overall quality of life. I am analytical and actively challenge negative beliefs and thoughts that may be causing unwanted and upsetting outcomes in life. I want to help clients learn to cope, communicate and be empowered to begin to build the life they truly want.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I will listen and ask specific questions that will help me to get to know you, understand who you are and also begin to gain clinical insights that will allow me to help you to create a treatment plan that will lead to accomplishing your most important therapy/life goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are my abilities to analyze and see all the puzzle pieces and quickly get an image of the whole picture of your life, your current problems and start to find a path toward solving them. I combine my strong analytical skills with a deep level of empathy and strong communication skills to build a bond of trust and cooperation between therapist and client. I am a therapist who will actively challenge you as a client to grow, because our goal is to make your life better.

My treatment methods

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

I have many years experience with this therapeutic approach to help clients discover the beliefs held deeply that can be causing depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts that lead to a decreased quality of life. I use the ABC model to help clients identify these beliefs and learn to actively challenge negative/irrational beliefs to improve mood stability and overall quality of life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT and TF-CBT to help clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviors and how thoughts can eventually lead to positive or negative outcomes in life. By identifying, challenging and replacing negative thoughts, a person’s mood can improve and this can lead to more positive decisions and behaviors that improve overall quality of life.

Christian Counseling

I believe that a person’s faith can be a strength in coping with the many challenges that life can bring. Mental health symptoms and disorders are found within the Christian population and I believe in helping clients utilize prayer, Bible study, reading Christian books and gaining support of the church to overcome mental health challenges.

Couples Counseling

I love working with couples to identity root causes of relationships, communication and problem solving skills to grow stronger relationship bonds and improve relationship satisfaction. I also work with couples who have been through the pain of infidelity and are trying to rebuild a strong, healthy relationship. I have experience from gaining a B.A. in Communication and then a M.S. in Professional Counseling and I use 22 years of knowledge and experience with improving communication and relationships when I work with couples. I am LGBTQIA2s+ friendly and I also work with couples who are involved in alternative styles of relationships, such as swinging, BDSM and kink.

Grief Therapy

I understand the pain involved in loss/grief and have worked with many clients over the past decade who are grieving to help them find peace and acceptance and be able to move forward after a loss. Grief can come from many different types of loss, not just losing someone who has passed away, but also grief from losing a job, a relationship or a way of life that someone was formerly accustomed to living. Recent years have caused people to grieve in many ways and there is hope, healing and a path forward that we can work toward together
