Welcome to therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have 6 years experience working with mental illness from Anxiety/Depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Mood disorders, children/adolescents, substance abuse, and suicidality. I have about one year practicing fully licensed using CBT methods. I am now starting practice privately so that I can expand on other methods that give meaning to this career. I myself have gone through years of therapy and take each case with high regard in their struggles.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will focus on a brief introduction by gathering some background information on expectations and identifying your life successes so that I can grasp your style of understanding new information to reach your personal goals. I like to get a feel of how comfortable you feel and pressures you might have about therapy. I encourage my clients to go at a safe pace to maintain safety. We will determine your goals as either exploring or problem solving so that I can determine the best method of therapeutic technique.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a population of severe mental illness and discrimination, I have developed a skill at bringing out the unique light of each person. Also having an interest in art, I have helped many people use creativity and various forms of expression to release feelings of worthlessness and meaning. My greatest strength overall, is providing each person with a genuine care for their well being and value.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have less than a year using this method however one of my favorites. In this type of therapy we discuss your values and areas in life you find importance. We will discuss what kind of person you want to be and in what ways do symptoms interfere. We analyze your level of willingness to tolerate challenges as a means of building empowerment within yourself. We then experiment with what unique methods help you get unstuck from destructive situations or thoughts.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In this type of therapy I work with you in identifying the distinct issue that you are dealing with and problem solve ways in reaching your goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This type of therapy is supportive of almost every disorder or area in mental health. In CBT we analyze thinking patterns and how they interact with emotions, feelings, and behavior. I take into consideration that some of us have sensations and instincts that can often be true. In this approach I respect what the client is feeling and going through so therefore I will validate your emotions and encourage you to be patient with yourself and process emotions and thoughts in a healthy manner that is not forced. This type of therapy is great for anxiety, depression, bipolar, as well as relational issues.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I have a great passion for the child parent relationship as I love children and love to advocate for parents. I can work with communication struggles, building a deeper connection, and forgiving from past hurts. My specialty for children is around the ages of 3 to 10.

Motivational Interviewing

This type of therapy is great for those with challenges controlling their anger as we look at your needs and not being able to meet them. I also enjoy this approach for alcohol abuse for those with a desire to cut back on their drinking or quit drinking. Changing our behaviors is something that has to have meaning and come from within.
