My name is Pamela and I have been a Social Worker for 30 plus years. I hold independent Social Work licenses in the states of Massachusetts, Florida and South Carolina and have worked primarily with teens, adults and seniors. My priority is providing a safe, warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment for us to work on building the therapeutic relationship. Through this alliance, we identify and address unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviors, which in turn leads to greater self-understanding, connectedness and allows barriers to be broken down and goals met.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, much of the time is spent talking about how the client has been feeling and what brought them into therapy. I ask questions and actively listen to better understand their perspective and how their life experiences have impacted them. We will also explore what they are looking to get from this process, what aspects of their life that they are struggling with, and how we can best address those challenges together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have always been interested in the how and why of human behavior such as what motivates us, what gets us stuck, how do we move forward and reach our goals... As a therapist, I look forward to partnering with clients in understanding their personal journey and how to help them become the best version of themselves. In my work with clients, I strive to create an open, non-judgmental and safe environment. I take an inquisitive and curious approach using warmth, compassion, empathy and even sometimes humor. I provide a safe welcoming space for clients to talk about whatever is important to them, to better understand their history, what has worked, or not worked in the past. I endeavor to develop a collaborative relationship where we work together to address barriers and achieve identified goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Thoughts are powerful. Simply put, negative thoughts have significant and detrimental impacts on our lives. CBT skills can help to identify these problematic thought patterns, challenge them, and then work toward implementation of positive coping strategies. Changing these thoughts will make improvements in coping skills related to grief, trauma, communication, relationships, anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use and more.

Attachment-based

Positive attachments and nurturing relationships are essential to growth and healing. My hope is that through the therapeutic relationship clients are able to explore their unique selves, and learn tools necessary to help them cope with their everyday struggles. I support my clients in developing the tools necessary to achieve the goals and objectives they wish to accomplish.

Supportive

My approach to goal setting with clients is a collaborative one. We work together to identify specific areas of change desired. Therapy is not "one size fits all." I meet clients where they are at and we will identify and work on goals for treatment. I believe each person has the ability to grow and heal when given the right space and support.

Strength-Based

My work with clients is Solution Focused and Strength Based. This then allows for increased self-awareness and equips the client with the tools needed to make the changes they desire. Additionally, this approach allows for an self-esteem improvement and greater confidence.

Eclectic

My approach to working with clients in therapy is an eclectic one and varies based upon their needs. Each modality is Person Centered to meet the client where they are at. Some of the approaches I use in my practice include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation and Family Systems. These techniques allow my clients to better understand how their thoughts and experiences can shape and influence their feelings and behaviors.
