I love working with individuals who have experienced loss, grief and traumas, be it through family traumas, death of a loved one, adoption and foster care, or other events. I especially enjoy working with children and teenagers while supporting their parents on the healing journey. I also enjoy working with adult adoptees and offer pre-adoption counseling with individuals using TBRI principles, attachment, expectations, and processing their own grief/loss if applicable.
For our first session, I like to gather information to help me better understand more about you and your needs for therapy. We will set some goals for what future sessions will look like.
I am easy to talk to and down to earth. I have been working in the field of mental health over twenty years and as a clinical therapist over ten years. I am looking forward to working with you!
I use an eclectic approach with individuals and families, using trauma informed and evidence based methods as well as integrating faith-based Christian counseling into sessions.
I use CPP with children zero to six (and their caregiver) who have experienced trauma, attachment needs, and challenging behaviors. I use play, play based learning, and bibliotherapy in this model. I meet with the child and caregiver together as well as working with the caregiver in some individual parenting sessions as well. We can do this via teletherapy with planning.
I use CBT especially with individuals with anxiety disorders, and I use CBT with exposure therapy for individuals with specific fears. We can do this with planning via teletherapy sessions.
I use paly therapy with children and caregivers when working on attachment, parenting challenges, and communication needs. I often times use this with younger children up to middle school aged youths.
I use TFCBT with children and teens ages three to eighteen who have experienced trauma and are having symptoms as a result. I work mostly with the individual and have some parent sessions as well. This can be done via teletherapy.
