Rachael has a true passion for working with teens, families, and those who feel unheard and marginalized. For over 7 years she worked exclusively with children and their families through a foster care agency, a residential setting, and in an inpatient psychiatric hospital. It is in these work environments that strengthened her abilities in helping clients face deeply rooted traumas that feed their anxiety, depression, negative self-talk, and suicidal ideations. It is also through these work experiences that she has become well versed in utilizing suicide risk assessment and interventions, as well as crisis intervention. Rachael operates from a person-centered approach that takes in multiple areas of a person’s life. She is a firm believer in meeting a client where they are in their healing process and helping foster an individual's confidence in their own abilities. She empowers everyone to advocate for their needs so that they can regain a sense of control and autonomy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My hope is that the client is able to feel lighter and less heavy emotionally and mentally after their first session. I understand that each person comes to therapy for different reasons, but what I have found is that ultimately people use their time in therapy for better insight into their situation or a release of an emotion. I will make sure that despite what happens in the session, my clients will leave our session in a better place.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I have always considered myself “not your usual therapist”. I am trained and well versed in many different therapeutic modalities (DBT, CBT, Solution Focused, MI, etc.); however, I do not subscribe to any one of them. As I work with my clients, I see what they need and what will be best fit them and then we go from there. If that means we sprinkle different parts from different modalities or we just just sit and talk and process and have a good cry; we can do that too. At the end of the day, my clients are my focus and they are the important part of the session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths are crisis management and intervention; processing and learning how to see the light at the end of the tunnel and working towards getting to that light. I am able to sit and truly listen and help people take their concerns from huge obstacles to small manageable pieces. I enjoy working with people on self-esteem, self-worth and overall purpose.
