Hello! I am an experienced clinical social worker dedicated to helping individuals begin to live fulfilling lives that bring them joy! I have six years of experience using solution focused and skill based intervemtions and over five years of experience with doing the deeper dive to understand root causes. Now, I use a combination of solution-focused and skill-based interventions that you can use immediately while we also use more traditional talk therapy to understand the deep-rooted belief systems and experiences that have impacted you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. We will complete a holistic assessment that will touch on the domains of your life and give me an idea of where you are and where you want to be. The information I collect will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a variety of individuals and challenges the past 11 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress. I use a combination of solution-focused and skill-based interventions that you can use immediately, along with more traditional talk therapy to understand the deep-rooted belief systems and experiences that have impacted you.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Life, Am I right? It can be beautiful and challenging. Every day, we face choices, situations, memories, and other challenges that can leave us feeling alone, anxious, sad, angry, numb, or overwhelmed. Whether it is past trauma, current life transition (dating, divorce/breakup, sickness, loss, baby/empty nest, job/ school, etc.), or feeling stuck- I am here to help! Together, we can identify the barriers and help you become your best and most authentic self! You are worthy and deserving! I have experience with all ages, mental health diagnoses, symptoms, and challenges. Let's have a cup of tea, coffee, or water and talk! You are unique, so my approach will be unique! I use a variety of modalities that will be tailored to your strengths, needs, and goals, rooted in a holistic approach that will include all the domains in your life to assist you in reaching the healing and growth you desire. I am a US Navy veteran specializing in first responders or military transition. I will offer a safe, comfortable, accepting, and inclusive space as we explore your thoughts, feelings, and needs. Although it may feel scary, it is also exciting! I would be honored to be a part of your journey! Finding the right provider is essential to your therapy journey, so please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more information.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

First. I work towards establishing a security-engendering therapeutic relationship with the patient and then within that relationship, I help the client to elaborate and express the types of communications, emotions, perceptions, and behaviors that were defensively excluded in earlier, formative relationships with attachment figures. As a result, the client becomes better able to communicate openly and accurately and to access more adaptive feelings, thoughts, and behaviors in his or her own life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

After establishing a solid rapport, we can use ACT techniques which promotes accepting negative thoughts, feelings, and events. In therapy, ACT encourages a person to mindfully participate in activities that uphold their core beliefs and values.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

After establishing a theraputic relationship, we begin to use CBT techniques to help you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective ways.

Compassion Focused

CFT helps an individual develop kinder approaches in how to view themselves and interact with others, void of blame and criticism. We use this in therapy by learning new skills that strengthen and develop skills that enable you to experience kindness towards yourself and consideration to others through the use of mindfulness-based strategies. CFT is similar to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but implements techniques that help establish traits like acceptance and self-respect, to enhance self-assurance and positive emotion. CFT is beneficial to those experiencing destructive thoughts, depression, or anxiety to combat feelings of shame and self-criticism.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). But it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely. The aim of DBT is to help you: Understand and accept your difficult feelings Learn skills to manage these feelings. Become able to make positive changes in your life. 'Dialectical' means trying to understand how two things that seem opposite could both be true. For example, accepting yourself and changing your behaviour might feel contradictory. But DBT teaches that it's possible for you to achieve both of these goals together.
