We all have dealt with varying levels of stress and anxiety before. It becomes an ongoing issue when we don’t address the thoughts and feelings that arise as physical symptoms slowly begin to take over. My role in this process is to assist in delving into where these thoughts began and how to move forward in future situations. Need to talk about trauma or issues with depression? Having problems in your social relationships that you’re struggling with? Feel like you’re drowning because of all the recent changes in your life? Let’s tackle this together and discover ways to overcome negative associations from the past. I help adults struggling with symptoms of anxiety, dealing with different life transitions and managing self esteem issues. I also assist with depressive symptoms, have a trauma focused background and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I primarily use the tools of compassion, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and problem solving to offer new perspectives in dealing with instances of intergenerational trauma. In many cases, certain aspects unknowingly get repeated between parents and their children. This can be addressed through discussing your own understanding as well as opting to make changes for your future. Aside from family trauma repetitions, dealing with all the recent changes in the world can also be a source of stress and anxiety. When we meet, we’ll dive into all these stressors and establish a plan for self-care that will assist in turning all these negative thoughts and feelings into a pure sense of optimism.
In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing. I like to get a clear idea of what you’re struggling with so I can figure out how to best serve you. Talking about certain personal issues can be hard, but I try to make it as easy and comfortable as possible. Clients tell me I exceed at motivational interviewing, Trauma-informed CBT, and Compassionate Inquiry. I can also provide resources for your own self-exploration of certain topics.
I’ve worked in the field of social work and have come across many different cultures and age groups. I'm also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I provide an empathic approach which can guide clients to look deeper into themselves while also figuring out new ways to handle certain interpersonal situations. Everyone needs someone to listen and hear their true voice. My goal through our sessions is that you're able to walk away with a new perspective and game-plan for future encounters as well as feel supported in making new decisions and changes within your life.
I enjoy and specialize in working with young adults primarily but I also have experience working with older populations. My clients typically report issues with anxiety and self esteem as well as different aspects of depression and trauma. In difficult situations, it is typical to feel overwhelmed or unheard and we all can benefit from some additional support in overcoming past experiences. Women's issues also go unnoticed sometimes and I am able to empathize and discuss those aspects as well. Talking out certain experiences and memories as well as developing new methods to address feelings of depression is very impactful on self care. I assist males too but I aim to encourage and support women in discovering their true purpose in life.
I keep an open mind that everyone has experienced some type of trauma in their lives and I assist them in processing and acknowledging those feelings. More often than not, we are all carrying a generational trauma that exists within our families which hasn't been resolved. Through our conversations, I can assist in working through which issues continue to impact your daily life and make alternate suggestions on how to handle certain situations.
From my experience working in foster care, I have an understanding of the importance of the attachments children build with their parents, their caregivers, siblings and other relatives. These relationships have impacts on everyone as they get older in regards to the types of friendships and romantic relationships they seek. I can assist in processing these memories and dynamics.
From our conversations, I can assist in helping you deepen your self-awareness as well as provide a better understanding of the influences of the past on present behavior
I enjoy providing education on different mental health topics and interventions that my clients may not be aware of. Therapy can be a learning experience that may assist in making decisions and choices that my clients typically don't consider. This is provided during our sessions through motivational support, skills training and normalization of different trauma aspects.
Through our collaborations, I will ask different questions to assist in enhancing intrinsic motivation. I like to take an empathic approach which makes it a little easier for clients to explore and resolve thoughts and feelings of ambivalence. I aim to increase self-awareness and enhance motivation and commitment to change through our conversations
