Hello, I'm Jose L. Diaz, a Licensed Counselor in Virginia with 16 years of experience, I have had the privilege to to meet a variety of people in some of the most challenging times of their lives. Being able to be an intimate part of their lives, and connecting with their challenges, pain and suffering has allowed me to understand individuals beyond my clinical abilities. I have always remembered the human component that we all possess and the resiliency possessed, is what we use to leverage the recovery and healing towards your well-being. I sincerely appreciate and respect being allowed into your vulnerability.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients over time have taught me that they want to understand themselves better, they want to understand how their challenges came to be their challenges and how to use that understanding to remove those challenges from their lives and live relieved. In our work, we will spend time processing what your mental and emotional experience has been, which tell us how it all exist, then develop specific approaches for your unique needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Along the way I have found it to be powerful to understand how you work, how you functioning and the reason things are the way they are. This approach to processing will give us an opportunity to be specific with the strategies we talk about implementing to create change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Many clients have found profound benefit in understanding how thoughts-emotions-behaviors are connected and how changing just one of these themes changes our whole experience for the positive.

Trauma-Focused CBT

It can be difficult and challenging to process trauma. Determining how the past is stored in our mind can free you from the intensity of that past. I tend to focus on what lingers from the trauma in order to create healing and grounding in the present and be more connected with the here and now.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

What we say and how we say it, has incredible value. Understanding what we mean by what we say, gives us an opportunity to dive into how you "represent" something and then allowing us to reprogram how it exist in your mind.
