About me

Hi, I’m Melissa, a psych NP and founder of Rooted Mind Psychiatric Services, PLLC. I chose this name for my practice because I feel most at peace in nature, surrounded by trees. Did you know that research shows spending time in nature can help people feel happier and better able to manage stress? Well, whether or not you share that connection, just as strong roots keep trees grounded, we also need to nourish our own roots so we can strengthen our branches, especially when facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, obsessions and compulsions, phobias, or other mood concerns. I’m here to support you in that process. I graduated from Temple University (RN, 2011) and Drexel University (NP, 2019), and have over a decade of experience in mental health, including more than 6 years as a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. In my practice, I will focus on you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. I combine medication, supplements, lifestyle guidance, and practical coping strategies to meet your needs. When appropriate, brief therapy is included, guided by supportive, CBT, and ACT principles. This is intended for short-term help, and is not a replacement for ongoing therapy. Let’s get started on creating a plan to reach your goals and work together to strengthen your roots to help you feel better.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I want to hear your story! This session is a chance to understand your history, concerns, preferences, and goals. We’ll review your situation, explore options, and identify steps that feel right for you. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard and clear about next steps. You will receive an intake packet to complete at least 24 hours before your session. Please note: This practice does not prescribe controlled substances (stimulants, benzodiazepines, hypnotics, etc.), perform ADHD testing, or provide evaluations for disability, FMLA, workers’ comp, forensic cases, or emotional support animals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I’m genuine, present, and curious about each person I work with. I listen closely, provide support and guidance, and help you find practical ways to navigate challenges and make meaningful changes in your daily life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I’m here for adults from all walks of life who are ready to actively engage in their mental health journey.

Melissa creates an environment that feels open minded and encouraging, which allows me to feel comfortable to share authentically and openly myself. She allows space for all emotions and encourages self acceptance and self-love but is also challenging and helps me to understand other perspectives. She is able to discern which approach is needed for the situation. I would highly recommend Melissa to anyone, her human approach to therapy makes her an asset to all.
