Hi, my name is Laura and I am a licensed psychotherapist. I have been practicing for over 10 years now, and what I have realized is that many individuals struggle with regulating their emotions, managing their overwhelming thoughts, and dealing with their family members. This is something that I can personally understand, due to the challenges that I’ve faced growing up. My goals as a clinician are to help you identify your strengths, connect to your inner being, regulate your stress levels, and increase your confidence in yourself. I like to utilize your faith and spiritual beliefs throughout our sessions, as I have found this to be very effective with many clients.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm environment, and you can expect us to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. We will identify one or two goals, and we will complete a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation. Also, we will discuss your current stress relieving routine, and I will teach you one coping strategy to regulate and manage stress that you face on a daily basis. You will be assigned homework to help you maintain accountability.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What’s stands out about my therapeutic approach is that I don’t stick to only talk therapy. I prefer to utilize evidence-based approaches, and mix and match techniques to cater to your needs and goals each session. I also involve the spiritual aspect of your beliefs in my sessions to assist with holistic healing and integration of the mind, body, emotions, and spirit. Many techniques that I utilize in my sessions come from EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy, internal family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and psychodynamic therapy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are individuals who are serious about showing up for themselves on a consistent basis. I am best positioned to serve someone who wants to: 1) improve their communication skills 2) learn about their attachment style 3) identify “why” they repeat unwanted patterns and behaviors 4) build a relationship with their inner child 5) utilize their spiritual beliefs in their healing 6) show up for themselves and do the inner work.

My treatment methods

Mind-body approach

I utilize a holistic approach by integrating your own spiritual beliefs in our sessions, with the use of evidence-based psychotherapy treatment techniques. This allows us to target any imbalances and symptoms that are keeping your mind, body, emotions, and spirit out of alignment. It’s important for all parts of you to function as a team for long term wellness and regulation. For many clients, I have found that when we focus on healing holistically, it helps their symptoms become more manageable, and eventually become unproblematic in their daily lives. While in a sacred space, I assist you with tackling negative thought patterns that keeps you stuck, and I teach you to implement nervous system regulation strategies to manage stress and regulate your emotions.

Integrative

Throughout my experience as a psychotherapist and a certified clinical trauma professional, I have found that therapy is not a one size fits all. This is the reason why I practice integrative therapy and utilize different techniques for each client. Depending on your goals and unique needs, your therapy session may look completely different than another client’s session. Some of these therapy techniques include: Neuroscience, EMDR (through sound healing), IFS (inner child/inner parts work) Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (somatic body healing), TRE (Somatic release/nervous system regulation), CBT (mindset work), CPT (therapeutic journaling), and MBCT (mindfulness/meditation/guided imagery).
