Hi I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker. I have over 25 years of experience working with individuals and families seeking help with one or more of the following: addiction, parenting, couple, foster care, school issues, and the military family's unique challenges. I have had the privilege to witness families grow in their ability to communicate their feelings and needs positively which enhances their relationships with each other

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session my first question is " How can I help? I listen,. I then begin to gather information and explain possible approaches to address the client's concern.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength that I bring as a provider is my extensive experience working with individuals, couples, children and families in a variety of settings with a wide range of issues. I am very fortunate to continue to have a love for my work.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to assist my client to decrease symptoms of anxiety including breathing exercises, progressive relaxation and positive visualization

Gestalt

Gestalt is the primary therapy that I have used with individuals, couples, families and children (play therapy). I have had training in gestalt therapy for both couples and families. And I have training as a play therapist using a variety of art mediums and the sand tray Individuals: The focus therapy for the individual is assisting in developing self awareness and eliminating negative thought patterns and emotions. Couples: The role of the therapist is to observe the system of communication. This assists the couple to become aware of any blocks and gives them the opportunity to experience intimacy in their communication with each other Family: In a family session an activity is suggested that includes all members present. It can be an art activity, playing cards etc. The role of the therapist is to observe the family dynamics to learn the strengths and areas for growth. Parents are met alone initially and intermittently throughout treatment.

Couples Counseling

Using Gestalt method the couple is seen as a system. The therapist observes the system and assists the couple to become aware of possible "stuck" areas in their communication and ways to enhance positive communication
