Hello, my name is John, and I am a licensed therapist in the state of California. While I have been a therapist for many years in a variety of settings, I am most recently retired after owning and running a business for many years. My desire now is to serve and "give back" in a therapeutic setting. I have been so fortunate to have encountered so many great teachers and therapists in my life it is now my desire to share with others and work to bring healing, love, and peace.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In a first session, we will meet face to face (virtually) and address any questions about counseling and therapy. We can begin to talk about how the work we will do might look. We can talk about present life issues and discuss goals we would like to pursue. We will agree that the courage and self-love that it requires to work to know about ourselves and to seek to improve our lives, with our ourselves, and in our relationships, and work, most definitely should be acknowledged!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As an old man, I have nearly a lifetime of experience. Obviously, while some of that is working in therapeutic context, I've also experienced working in the business world, I've been married (and divorced), raised children, and have suffered the loss of loved ones. I have traveled a good part of the world and understand the universality of people. I trust the healing ability of people and, I believe with the aid of therapeutic intervention, people can find what they need to find peace in their lives.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I want to see people who are at whatever crossroad or question point they may be in their lives. A variety of signals, anxiety, depression, relationship, and work issues, can all be indicators of a need for support. I want to know and ask where my clients are in their lives, and for them to tell me their story. In the narrative of their lives, they will find their uniqueness, their resilience, and their ineffable worth, and a direction for healing and peace.

My treatment methods

Transpersonal

In a measured world, there are things that are not measurable, that is the growth potential of a human being. In my experience over the years, working with severely mentally ill clients as well as higher functioning clients, I have seen, as the common denominator, the human being, our spirit inside, seeking something deeper; whether that be in their relationships with others, their work, and/or their relationship with themselves. A Transpersonal philosophy acknowledges our humanness and our human spirit that seeks a deeper place of peace and love.

Humanistic

Having been trained in many modalities of therapy, a Humanistic-Transpersonal approach affords me an underlying philosophy to employ whatever therapeutic technique would best serve a client. My deep belief that our true sense of self is resilient, worthy, and capable is my guide in employing whatever treatment approach or strategy in leading to a sense of healing for a client. I have training in solution-focused brief therapy, EMDR, and longer-term depth therapy.
