My name is Dr. Cheryl Paulhus. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with 30 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, abuse, coping with grief and loss, life transitions and pain management. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
In our first session together we will review your greatest concerns, begin to assess and explore together the areas of your life you feel are most challenging. We will begin to formulate a path to your recovery and answer any questions about the process you have.
I can work with a wide range of life challenges and design a treatment plan in collaboration with you that will assist you in the path of wellness and recovery. I provide a holistic and comprehensive approach which is a balance of mind, body, and spirit. I have a compassionate and approachable demeanor and collaborate with each client to assist them in identifying the areas they need to focus on in their own way, in their own time. I am intuitive, well organized, and pay attention to detail. I enjoy helping clients reach their goals and guide them in learning a new way of being that is unique to them. The Integrative approach considers many factors that influence mental health, sleep, stress. trauma, spiritual and cultural beliefs and practices, environmental factors, physical health, and family and social connections. In essence, I work with each client to experience lasting and meaningful healing in different ways, not a one-size-fits-all approach. The Integrative approach works on multiple levels that provide alternative ways of responding to your environment without getting stuck in the habits of the past that hold you back. Together we will explore multiple evidence-based approaches that best suit your needs to overcome your challenges. An Integrative approach may use a combination of approaches to include, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed and Resilience based approaches, Somatic & Health interventions, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Relational & Attachment Based approaches.
Whether you are going through a life transition, suffering from anxiety, depression, relational issues, trauma or bereavement, I can support you and find solutions and effective strategies to alleviate your suffering. Throughout my 30-year career I have provided clinical, educational & administrative services that focused on the treatment of Trauma, PTSD, Depression & Anxiety as well as emergency crisis services and severe mental illness. I have provided services in a variety of settings to include residential treatment, psychiatric in-patient units, military family clinic, juvenile corrections, community mental health, emergency services, private practice, and public-school systems.
