Hello! My name is Kathy Kinskey. I have a masters degree in marriage and family counseling & count myself as very lucky to be a licensed and seasoned professional counselor who has worked with individuals, families and children for over 26 years! My continued training and experience continue to help me hone my specialization in attachment and trauma work so as you and I collaborate, we have the tools and partnership to help you thrive! Attachment and trauma work are important areas for all of us to address if we want to live and love fully. Taking a quiz and identifying your attachment style is the first step to putting the puzzle pieces together about how your attachment style may be influencing your life - how and who you choose as a life partner, how you relate to your children, yourself, your work, money and to all of life! I also specialize in preparation for birth and adoption, bonding, post partum/ post-adoption adjustment and depression - all areas where attachment work can transform your life and your relationships! Know that attachment work can be a fascinating and fun process of discovery! And know, too, we have great tools today...and you have support here in using those tools to meet your goals. Lastly, evidence-based tools for trauma and attachment work can also help you remove entrepreneurial and career blocks and to find your way through anxiety and loss. You can break through old patterns...patterns that are actually just signals that you need a safe and supportive environment along with effective tools so you can develop and use emotional literacy as essential life guidance. No one taught us this stuff. It's not your fault you don't have this information or these tools. The good news though is these things are here for us now!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect a warm interaction where my goal is to help you feel safe, get your questions answered and begin a path for clarifying your therapy goals . You'll also learn about how therapy works and about how we can move forward together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am passionate about attachment work as it seems to me to be the key to all other effective therapy and growth work. It influences everything!!! From who we choose to have in our lives, to birth and bonding, to how we relate to the challenges in our lives and more. This passion comes through in my work. I love empowering people to fully use their strengths as a bridge to reach their goals. My strengths also lie in working with individuals who highly value personal growth and are on a journey to discover or pursue their purpose and where they can serve most greatly and who are invested in having more fulfilling relationships. If you're someone who is guided by a desire to grow, even in the midst of being very human, we will likely collaborate well together to help you reach your goals!

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I have extensive experience in neuroscience backed practices and therapies that help people to not only heal their relationship stumbling blocks but to experience their relationships as places of thriving, inspiration and strength for the other areas of their lives.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems is quite powerful in calming the self-critic, as well as other self-sabatoging behaviors that get in the way of our goals in relationships, work, parenting and life. People tend to love using it with other tools we use that make inner work very rewarding.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

A Mindfulness-Based focus is easily incorporated into therapy as we bring in somatic (body) awareness as an essential part of your whole intelligence system- for understanding yourself, symptoms and those of your children. Mindfulness has a great track record in calming anxiety, enhancing decision-making, relationships, learning and performance.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have extensive training in solution-focused therapy. It is based on your strengths and a belief that your best solutions are those that build on successes you are already having in your life, no matter how small. It is a great tool for life and for parenting!

Trauma Informed Care

I specialize in trauma work and use a variety of modalities to clear trauma symptoms and to replace trauma-based negative beliefs and triggers withh automatically occuring positive beliefs about self, relationship and life.
