I am very glad you are considering therapy for your child, tween, or adolescent! I specialize in children and adolescent behavioral health and would love to provide children and teens with the skills they will be able to use for the rest of their lives. I use a cognitive behavioral approach, which means I look at how our thoughts, and emotions affect our behaviors. Sometimes it feels like one of the areas has control over us, so finding ways to manage our thinking, feeling and behavior is very key to a good balanced life. I find that all areas of life are important to emotional well-being, so I look for ways to incorporate spiritual, physical, and relationship wellness in my work with clients. Teens need special support in feeling well, in a time when things feel off balance and out of control. I look forward to supporting you and your child/teen.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Clients can expect a warm welcome to therapy sessions . My goal is to relieve any nerves or misconceptions about therapy. I am on the client's side and am dedicated to providing the best care by making sure client's feel a positive and peaceful connection.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I am skilled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and also am a trained Christian Counselor. The tools I use in therapy are simple handouts and worksheets that are approached more as a guide for dialogue. I believe in a teaching component to therapy so that one day the client can master the tools to be his or her own therapist.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I know coming to therapy can be a scary thing especially for children and teens, but one of my strengths is making the experience feel natural and normal. I like to walk beside clients and be a role model of what it is like to go through life without seeking perfection, just improvement.
