Welcome! Do you ever find yourself wondering which way is up? Are the demands of everyday life becoming draining or overwhelming? Well you are not alone in figuring it all out. My name is Patrice and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Virginia and Kentucky. I currently reside in the DMV area and have been practicing a little over 4 years now. Together, I am here to help you figure out what those overwhelming feelings mean and ways to manage them so you can get back to focusing on the things that matter most to you. Together, I am here to help you figure out what those overwhelming feelings mean and ways to manage them so you can get back to focusing on the things you enjoy most! Using a teamwork approach, we will create goals and incorporate different therapeutic techniques to work towards those goals. Some of these techniques include expressive forms of therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, DBT skills and more. I truly believe in empowering clients to take back control of their lives as they develop healthy relationships with themselves and others by identifying and amplifying strengths you already possess. I always say that finding a therapist is like trying on shoes, and hopefully I am a good fit for you!
Our first session will primarily focus on gaining an understanding of what is going on, how it is showing up in your daily life and develop goals for therapy.
I specialize in working with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, and emotion regulation. My strengths are helping clients to be able to identify ways they can utilize tools and strengths they already possess to manage difficult feelings. I also specialize in empowering clients to not feel dependent on therapy so that are able to function successfully once treatment goals have been achieved.
Clients I typically work with are late adolescents and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, stress and mood management.
Patrice Elmore offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
I have used Cognitive Behavioral therapy for the last several years as a foundational model to help clients better understand and express their needs by connecting thoughts to specific behaviors. I work with clients to explore what might be getting in the way of living the life they envision for themselves and active ways to challenge these barriers.
