Hi, I'm Shana, a licensed professional counselor specializing in working with children, teens, and young adults. My aim is to provide a safe, judgment-free environment where clients feel at ease sharing their thoughts and emotions. I value building meaningful connections with each client and use a creative, eclectic approach to therapy, recognizing that everyone has unique needs. I'm also here to support parents by listening to their concerns and offering strategies and guidance throughout their child's therapeutic journey.
Your child will feel supported and understood during our intake process. I’m here to help them develop the skills they need to cope with depression, anxiety, or any other challenges they may be facing. Building a genuine connection is important to me, and I take the time to create a comfortable environment where they can openly express their feelings.
My greatest strengths lie in my intuition, which allows me to tailor sessions based on what feels most needed in the moment. I focus on identifying your child's inner strengths and building upon them while incorporating creativity into our therapeutic journey. My goal is to make your child feel safe, understood, and valued. I also prioritize parent connection, helping your child communicate with you by offering support to advocate for their needs and express their feelings.
I love working with children, teens, and young adults, as my background in school counseling and experience in creative arts therapy make me well-suited for this age group. My therapeutic style is person-centered and strengths-based, incorporating CBT, expressive and creative therapies, as well as solution-focused techniques.
I use CBT to help my clients understand possible unhelpful/negative thought patterns and how to change them to lessen depression or anxiety.
I use creative arts in my therapeutic approach because I feel that art and play can help unlock hidden emotions and feelings, my children and teen clients often gravitate towards these materials which help them in self-expression.
