My name is Amber Strong. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have 15 years of postgraduate experience and have worked in the mental health field for nearly 20 years. I help clients achieve their goals and become the best version of themselves. I enjoy being a part of the process of a client overcoming challenges, barriers and adversities and watching them go on to live happy, well accomplished, lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

A first session will be all about getting know you and what you want to gain from therapy. I will ask about your primary concerns, symptoms, background and family history. This will help me start to develop a clinical picture of who you are and your needs. This will also be where we start the initial treatment planning process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Clients often tell me that I am easy to talk to and a good listener. I think I'm good at providing a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to openly express themselves.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is great for a variety of clients and diagnoses. Our thoughts, feelings, behaviors and core beliefs can have a big impact on our mental health and how well we cope with stressors. I like to use this method to explore any unhealthy thinking patterns that may be contributing to depression, anxiety or other symptoms, and work toward restructuring those thought patterns to something that is more productive to improve mood and reduce anxiety.

Eclectic

Life is fluid and constantly changing and so the needs of clients. An Eclectic approach takes that into consideration and will utilize tools and techniques from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic methods as needed for a client's specific needs.

Motivational Interviewing

This method can be used with most clients, but I like to use with clients that are unsure or ambivalent about their goals or if they need or want change at all. It also works well for clients that might be a little hesitant to start therapy in the first place.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

This method is more future focused and is geared towards exploring a client's ideal goals and expectations and seeks to find a path to achieve those goals.
