I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 33 years in the counseling profession. Because of many years of professional experience on top of life experiences, I am able to provide to my client's compassion, understanding and the ability to "walk alongside them" through the counseling process. I use many different approaches to counseling depending on each client, what they are going through and what they desire. I encourage my clients to actively participate in the counseling process as this creates a more meaningful and beneficial experience. I have a lot of experience working with clients who live with Anxiety, Depression, Grief,, Past Abuse, Anger Management, Stress, Relationship issues ( However, I only provide individual counseling, at this time). I believe it is important to provide each client with the skills that they need to be able to manage their lives more than they were able to before counseling.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Clients can expect the first session with me to be a question/answer session. I will be asking questions to get as much information as possible about the client to help determine the compatibility for this particular counseling relationship. I also invite clients to ask me questions about my experience, style of counseling or anything that would help them feel comfortable working with me as long as it is appropriate. I will also go over the counseling process, what they can expect from me and what I expect from them. I also invite them to discuss what the clients expect from me.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I believe that my greatest strengths as a counseling is my years of experience in the counseling field. These years of experience has taught me a lot about what clients are looking for is counseling. I believe that I have a lot of compassion and empathy that often times clients do not get in their personal lives. Along with those attributes, I believe I possess the ability to help clients, though teaching coping skills, offering insight and validation and support to find strength within themselves to move forward and gain more control in their lives.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
While I have a vast amount of experience in many areas of counseling, I am best positioned to serve clients who are 18 years old and older and have lived with anxiety, anger, depression, grief, past abuse, stress or relationship issues. If there are other areas that a person needs help with we can discuss this , see if I am able to help them. If we feel that I am not the best person to help them in that area I will help them find someone who can,
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help client gain insight to the issues they are facing and also teach them skills to help them manage their lives more effectively.
Christian Counseling
For those who wish to have a faith-based counseling experience, I help the client use their faith as a strength to help them learn to manage their lives for effectively and gain hope.
Grief Therapy
Grief therapy is used to help clients heal from grief in life from any form of loss.
Strength-Based
Helping a client see the strengths that they have and enhance those strengths to help them feel capable to overcoming/manage the obstacles that they are facing.
