I am a psychodynamic-oriented therapist with a special interest in early childhood attachment and how that impacts present day relationships. I am also basic-trained in EMDR and equipped to provide EMDR virtually. I believe in an empowerment-based approach, and that even our maladaptive coping mechanisms are strategies that we have developed to help us cope with and survive life's trials. I like to reframe negative beliefs that clients hold about themselves and how they cope into strengths, and then collaborate with clients on strategies to achieve desired changes.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
During our first session I will try to get to know a little bit about you and what brings you to therapy. I will also answer any questions you may have about me or my approach. I think it's important for us to work on seeing if this feels like the right fit for you so that you can get the most out of your therapy. First sessions can be hard! So I focus on being mindful of this and focusing on going at whatever pace in the first few sessions is best for you.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I have been told that I have a calm and non-judgmental approach that makes people feel accepted.
