Hi! I'm a Clinical Social worker based in Georgia- however I'm licensed to practice in Georgia, Maine, Rhode Island, New Mexico and North Carolina. I received my Masters from Fayetteville State University and have been practicing for over 10 years with combined time in military and as a civilian. I help adolescents and adults become the best versions of themselves.
The first session is about information- who you are, your background, and of course what bring you to therapy. You will get a brief introduction of who I am, and by the end we will center on which approach will work best for you. The session is more of the introduction than a treatment session. Following the first session we will dive into the presenting problem with your explanation for services. I am honest, direct, but never rude. I will admit I am not everyone's cup of tea because honesty and accountability are a hard pill to swallow for anyone. For those who stay with it, we can expect changes in perspective and direction. Tools needed to face a large array of issues head on.
Flexibility- as life hits, not only do you want and need a provider who is consistent- but also one who is flexible and understanding of life's everchanging expectations on you. Having a small case load allows me to be flexible and move your appointments when needed. It also allows for me to be available for emergencies.
I love working with young people who are underserved. That more or less is everyone. From the 9-5 persons who don't have time to do traditional appointment times, to single parents who dont get to take advantage of treatment for themselves as they provide for everyone else, to industry professionals whose discretion is a must, to those who find themselves stuck, overwhelmed, depressed and/or anxious about different facets of their lives. My work hours start at 9am and go until 11pm allowing me to reach those who were not previously able to be served.
I work with couples to gain understanding of their relationship bridging the gap in communication, financial issues, respect, security, and intimacy
Solution Focus is Just that, for those who need a solution now, not 12 months down the road, this Therapy centers on the problem, not what caused the problem and attempts to not only cope with the issue but guide the client to a solution that the client can move forward with.. Used with individuals and couples.
Learning ways to change may seem difficult, but CBT offers pathways to change by accessing cognitive approaches to first target the behavior and set out to modify the behavior- used with individuals and couples.
Unresolved issues linger and cause disruption in our present and future. This method treats the past, while helping clients live in the present, so they are able to secure their Future.
Venting is powerful- Venting with support and direction is a combination that is effective. This method allows the client to have a voice while reassuring the client with unconditional positive regard.
