I take a humanistic client-centered approach in my practice. My goal is to help people when they are ready to move towards healing and improving their lives. I believe in empowering my clients and providing the positive support they deserve so that they can function independently outside of the therapeutic relationship. My approach is to accept and respect the autonomy of clients and guide them to find the strength and power within them. I truly believe that every client is the expert in their lives and i will be here to support them in finding the solutions that they need to solve their own problems.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session i will be focusing on getting to know the client and allow client to get to know me in a professional therapeutic manner where we can start to build therapuetic rapport and trust. I will be reviewing some intake questions and discuss client's goals and challenges as well as reviewing client's history. I also assess for any high-risk symptoms or behaviors in order to make sure client's safety. I will be going over limits of confidentiality and answer client's questions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that my greatest strengths as a provider include but are not limited to the following: being a great listener and reflecting back while guiding clients to increase their own understanding of self, being good with communication, being able to develop positive trustworthy therapeutic relationships, having the ability create a nonjudgmental environment , being culturally sensitive, having empathy and genuine interest in others, strong boundaries, great work ethics, always open minded and willing to learn about my clients and their needs, always continuing to self-educate and improve my professional skills, problem solving skills, bringing my authentic self to the session and being present with clients, speaking two fluent languages (Farsi and English).

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT therapeutic techniques in order to help my clients become more aware and understanding of their thought process and how it affects their emotions and actions. I find this therapeutic theory very helpful and effective in helping clients work towards achieving their goals by identifying their challenging or negative thoughts and using exercises to change those thoughts and behavioral patterns to more positive realistic and healthy thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns.

EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing technique is a powerful tool to use in therapy in order to help clients reprocess traumatic memories, events, and any disturbances related to distressing life experiences. EMDR is not only used to treat symptoms of trauma! There is so many experiences we have that leave an emotional impact on us which is why EMDR can be helpful. I utilize EMDR in sessions in order to address all the emotional impacts we’ve experienced. Those impacts might include trauma as well as grief, job loss, eating disorders or relationship issues. If a client is having a strong emotional response to an event, or if a negative feeling or memory lingers and the client wonders why they still feel this way, then I find EMDR to be an effective approach.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Coming from a different cultural background than the American culture myself has always inspired me as a therapist to keep an open mind and heart in becoming more of a culturally aware and sensitive therapist. I truly believe that being a culturally sensitive therapist can be helpful in order to develop positive and trsutworthy therapeutic relationship with clients. I am always genuinely open and interested in learning about various cultures in order to better understand client's needs and challenges.

Attachment-based

I utilize the Attachment-based therapeutic approach to treat variety of challenges such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, unresolved childhood trauma, and relationship issues. I find this approach effective in helping people address and resolve past traumas and attachment wounds that stem from childhood. This approach can be helpful in strengthening client's ability to build healthy and positive relationships in the present and future and have more of a positive experience in life.

Humanistic

I utilize various therapeutic techniques and approaches in sessions depending on client's needs and goals including Person Centered/Humanistic approach. I truly believe that every person has the answers and power for self-improvement and personal growth. I aim to provide genuine unconditional acceptance and positive regard to clients and guide them to access those strengths and answers within them that can lead them to accomplish goals, improved autonomy, and live better overall.
